We believe that business litigation can be best accomplished in a firm dedicated to that one practice area. With business litigation as our focus, we have learned that clients are best served by early assessment of cases, including, where appropriate, consideration of a full range of dispute resolution options such as mediation, arbitration, and pre-litigation settlement negotiation. If litigation is the necessary path, then we consider the full range of venues, including state and federal court, and litigation options, such as preliminary relief, pre-judgment security, and expedited proceedings, all of which tend to promote the quick resolution of disputes in the most cost-effective manner. By staffing matters leanly, the lawyers at Yurko, Salvesen & Remz are fully familiar with their cases and can offer individualized attention to the needs of our clients and cases. Moreover, because we are a small firm, each of our cases is significant to us — whether large or small — and will receive the attention it merits. Due to the high and ever-increasing standard rates and disbursement charges in large regional and national law firms, it has become increasingly difficult for large law firms to handle anything but the largest of litigation matters “economically.” Often, the cost of litigation itself becomes a major factor in the dispute resolution process. Because of our size and our lower overhead, our standard hourly rates are often considerably less than the rates of our peers at the larger firms. Our overall philosophy is that litigation must be conducted consistent with client need, risk assessment, and risk tolerance. Early in most litigation matters, we evaluate the litigation options and, after candid discussions with our client concerning the potential risks, rewards, and costs of varying strategic choices, we then set out to implement those strategic choices approved by our clients.
